Essentials

In June 2008, after six successful years, ISC was forced to move from its beautiful south-east country location to the west end of Edmonton.  The resulting drop in enrollment forced the school to close in February 2009.  In December 2009, Staff Members Nicolette Groeneveld and Mark Ogle restarted ISC  as a Sudbury home schooling group.  The search continues for a suitable, permanent location and the funding required to redevelop ISC as a full-fledged Sudbury Campus.

The Sudbury Valley School

The Indigo Sudbury Campus is modeled on the Sudbury Valley School.
Located in Framingham, Massachusetts, the Sudbury Valley School was founded in 1968 and has been fully operational and highly successful ever since.

The Sudbury Valley School believes that:

• all people are curious by nature
• the most efficient, long-lasting and profound learning takes place when started and pursued by the learner
• all people are creative if they are allowed to develop their unique talents
• age-mixing among students promotes growth in all members of the group
• freedom is essential to the development of personal responsibility.

Today, more than twenty other Sudbury Schools are operating around the world, three of which are in Canada. There are also over ten new Sudbury Schools presently being established.
