Essentials

In June 2008, after six successful years, ISC was forced to move from its beautiful south-east country location to the west end of Edmonton.  The resulting drop in enrollment forced the school to close in February 2009.  In December 2009, Staff Members Nicolette Groeneveld and Mark Ogle restarted ISC  as a Sudbury home schooling group.  The search continues for a suitable, permanent location and the funding required to redevelop ISC as a full-fledged Sudbury Campus.

Staff Elections:

At ISC, we hold staff elections because we believe only the students can determine who best serves them.

• Every Spring, students and staff vote to determine which staff members’ contracts will be renewed for the following year.
• Staff are elected based on their usefulness to the students, how well they fit within the Campus’s philosophy, and how well they help to manage the Campus’s affairs.

Benefits to students:
They...
• feel empowered
• feel respected and demonstrate respect
• learn to be discerning and hone their evaluation skills
• understand a staff member’s importance in the “bigger picture”

Key Concepts
At ISC, there are eight key aspects to the day-to-day operation of the Campus. Each aspect offers students a wide variety of benefits and learning experiences.

Self-Initiated learning

Corporations
